Military retirees in Nigeria are fed up with the delay in payment of their entitlements,

despite having secured approval for the funds. After waiting for 11 months, they're taking matters into their own hands and planning a massive protest in Abuja on Thursday to demand action from the Federal Ministry of Finance.

According to Col. Innocent Azubuike, a leader of the group, the unpaid entitlements have caused immense hardship for military pensioners. Despite assurances that payments would be made in November, the retirees were informed that a lack of cash-backing prevented the payments from being made.

This isn't the first time military retirees have protested over unpaid entitlements. Similar protests have been held in the past, with retirees demanding immediate payment of their pension arrears ¹. The retirees are frustrated and feel that the government is not taking their plight seriously.

The protest on Thursday is expected to be massive, with retirees from all over the country converging on Abuja. The group has made preparations for the protest, including ordering mobile toilets and sleeping mats ¹.

The Federal Ministry of Finance needs to take immediate action to address the plight of military retirees. These individuals have served their country with honor and dedication, and it's only fair that they receive their entitlements in a timely manner.
