The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from a group claiming to have declared the Biafra Republic in Finland.

IPOB's spokesman, Emma Powerful, described the declaration as a scam and urged people to ignore it .

According to Powerful, the individuals involved in the declaration are among the sponsors of insecurity in Nigeria's South-East region. Their goal, he said, is to destabilize the region, divide the people, and divert attention from the genuine Biafran struggle.

IPOB emphasized that there is no room for another Biafra declaration, as the late leader Dim Ojukwu already declared Biafra's independence in 1967. The group is instead focused on restoring Biafra's sovereignty through a United Nations-supervised referendum.

It's worth noting that IPOB has been critical of the Finland-based group, accusing them of being "autopilot criminals" who are making money from ignorant followers. The group has urged those involved in the declaration to stop interfering with IPOB's peaceful struggle for Biafran restoration .
