In a heartbreaking turn of events, a second explosion occurred when a motorcycle carrying rescuers accidentally triggered another bomb, claiming the life of one of the rescuers, Dauda Haruna.

The victims of the first explosion, including a child who succumbed to injuries, have been buried according to Islamic rites. Four injured children are currently receiving treatment at the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna.

This incident marks the second bomb explosion in the Bassa community within a two-week period. Locals attribute the attacks to bandits who have been targeting the community.²

The Niger State Government has deployed a joint security task force to the area to restore order and prevent further attacks. However, the community remains on edge, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
