Senate didn’t suspend nor withdraw tax reform bills – Bamidele

Bamidele , has clarified that the Senate has not suspended or withdrawn deliberations on the Tax Reform Bills. This clarification was made during a plenary session on Thursday, where Bamidele raised a point of order to address a news report claiming that the Senate had suspended further consideration of the bills .

Bamidele emphasized that the bills were still alive and that the Senate had referred the matter to the Committee on Finance, giving them six weeks to report. He also noted that the bills were executive bills transmitted by the President and that only the executive arm can withdraw them .

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also weighed in, stating that the Senate remains committed to advancing the Tax Reform Bills in the best interest of Nigeria. He emphasized that the legislative process involves addressing concerns and reaching a consensus, and that the Senate will not be intimidated or distracted from it
