Police ban use of firecrackers in FCT.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has banned the use of firecrackers, also known as knockouts, during the Christmas and New Year celebrations to ensure public safety. Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu explained that firecrackers can cause unnecessary panic, pose fire risks, and lead to other avoidable incidents ¹.

The ban is part of the police's efforts to maintain peace and safety in the community, and anyone found using or selling firecrackers will face arrest and prosecution. The police are urging community leaders and residents to support public awareness campaigns about the dangers of firecrackers and to report any suspicious activities or violations of the ban through emergency hotlines.

It's worth noting that this ban is not unique to this year, as the FCT Police Command has implemented similar bans in previous years to ensure public safety during the festive season ² ³. The police are committed to maintaining law and order throughout the holiday season, and residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerns.
