A devastating fire broke out at the Christ Apostolic Church in Ibadan, Oyo State,

 on Friday night, trapping several worshippers inside during a yearly carol-cum-vigil. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm at Wisdom Estate, with some worshippers having fallen asleep in preparation for the vigil when the blaze erupted. An elderly woman, who was still inside the church, was among those trapped, and eyewitnesses described the desperate scene as the fire raged on ¹.

The Oyo State Fire Services responded to the scene, but the cause of the fire remains unknown. The full extent of the damage and possible casualties are still being ascertained. This incident is particularly concerning, given that it occurred during a religious gathering, and highlights the importance of fire safety measures in public spaces.
